Wishing on a Star—Romance Astrology in Action
With romance, at times it seems like finding your perfect match is like wishing on a star. We all hope that we find that perfect person that fulfills all our romantic hopes and dreams. With astrology it is possible to find that person that most closely matches what you desire in a partner. Read how romance astrology does just that.
The Starting Point
The Natal Chart
You are unique. Despite the fact that thousands of people were born on the same day you were, you were the only person born at a specific place at a specific time on this planet. Even twins, born minutes apart, may have significant differences in their charts, which would explain why they could be so much alike, yet have different kinds of lives. The natal chart is a representation of the planets in the solar system as they relate to your birthplace and birth time. It describes your innate personality drives and desires in this lifetime. How this happens, whether the stars actually cause things to happen, or that the stars and humans happen to be caught up in the same energetic currents of the Universe, is still a matter of debate. However, through thousands of years of observations of the planets and human behavior, astrologers can say confidently that certain behaviors are associated with the planets and zodiac signs. Astrologers will also tell you that certain behaviors can be expected from the energetic connections between the planets that we call aspects. In addition, a special spin is put on the energies of the planets as they fall the “houses” of your birth chart. Combine planets, signs, aspects and houses, and a competent astrologer will have a complete picture what you desire in romantic partner.
Techniques Used in Relationship Astrology—Synastry
When looking to gauge the compatibility of two people, astrologers will employ relationship astrology techniques. One technique is call synastry, where the astrologer will compare how the planets in your chart compare to the planets of another person. We look for important connections between the Suns of the two people, Sun of one to the Moon of the other, Venus and Mars connections as well as a whole host of other planetary indicators. There is rarely a perfect match in these combinations, but the goal here is to see if the positive connections outweigh the negative.
The Sun—Where the Sun is on the day of your birth is what people call their zodiac sign. Our essential essence, some people call this your ego. When the Sun makes a connection with another’s Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars, the two people have a natural understanding of what makes each other tick.
The Moon—The moon represents our emotions and security needs. It represents how we want to be nurtured in our relationships. How well your potential partner does this is shown by how their planets aspect your Moon.
Mercury—Speedy Mercury represents our thinking processes. In relationship astrology, it can represent how well you communicate with your partner.
Venus—What does it take for someone to get close to you? It is moonlit walks, a fancy dinner, or just holding hands. Venus talks about how we like to be romanced. If your Venus falls on the other person’s Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars you can fall hard for them.
Mars—The red planet in our horoscope charts represents our survival instincts and our sexual drive. When a person’s Mars connects with another person’s Venus, there is a powerful physical connection between them.
Jupiter—The largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter talks about our connection to something beyond ourselves, which some call God. In Jupiter we find our higher ideas and also the abundance of the Universe.
Saturn—This weighty planets tells how we view our responsibilities to our self and others. Often a Saturn connection to a personal planet of another person indicates a long lasting relationship can be had with that person.
Uranus—The quirky blue green planet teaches us what makes us an individual. In relationship astrology it shows us how we respond the quirks in our partner’s personality.
Neptune—The planet of dreams and illusions throws a romantic glow over our relationships. Where Neptune makes connections to our personal planets is where we might not see things clearly.
Pluto—This tiny body packs a wallop in your natal chart by pointing out areas where you need to change your methods or your attitudes. A Pluto connection in your natal chart to the Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars of another person indicates an irresistible draw to that person, though this might be an issue to work through.
The Composite Chart
Another technique used is constructing and analyzing a composite chart. With the composite chart, the middle point between each of planets, Sun to Sun, Moon to Moon, etc., is calculated and placed in a natal chart of its own. Why do astrologers do this? Because the blending of the two charts represents the relationship as an independent entity. You’ve heard people say “We are better together than apart” or “I am a different person when I’m with him”. That is the effect of the relationship itself. It is why we call celebrity couples by a composite nickname, like Bradgelina or TomKat. A composite chart will reveal how the relationship created will affect each person’s life. It answers the question, “What is this relationship about?”
If all of this sounds complicated, it is. Astrologers study for years to be able to parse the intricacies of romantic astrology to be able to tell you whether a single person is a compatible match. Starlinked uses all these techniques and evaluates the best matches for you within our database of potential partners, the person you wished for on star.
